The Oliveriana Museum and Library house
The Oliveriana Museum and Library house an extraordinary, rich, valuable collection of ancient objects, mainly uncovered during archaeological digs, and an impressive collection of books, comprising manuscripts, precious scrolls and rare editions donated to Pesaro by citizen Annibale degli Abbati Olivieri in 1756. In 1787, Olivieri made a testamentary bequest, adding the archaeological heritage and book collection of Giovan Battista Passeri to this collection.
The City Museums
The City Museums are hosted within the Toschi Mosca building, a majestic structure in the heart of Pesaro’s old town centre, in the small square which bears the same name, a short stroll from the central Piazza del Popolo and the sea. They feature a Picture Gallery and the Museum of Ceramics, where visitors can admire many paintings, drawings, prints, decorative arts and sculptures, in addition to a unique collection of ceramic tiles and porcelain pieces: a truly rich, varied heritage. An absolute, undisputed masterpiece–the true ‘pearl’ of the City Museums is the Coronation of the Virgin altar piece by Bellini, a work that is alone worth a visit.
